| The Second Century Fund |
|
The Second Century Fund is a permanent building fund created to help ensure the continuation of Trinity through the next century. It is dedicated to two principal objectives: (1) to payoff existing parish debt; and subsequently, (2) to provide a specific fund to address capital costs associated with parish facilities. Paying off our mortgage at an accelerated rate will significantly reduce the interest cost over the life of the loan. For example: over the next five years, reducing our mortgage debt by $750,000 more than current payments require, could reduce our total mortgage interest expense by $500,000. After the mortgage is paid, the goal is to continue to grow the Fund to a level that enables Trinity to pay future capital costs (repairs, improvements, or additions to facilities) without borrowing or initiating a “capital campaign.” A successful Second Century Fund will enable Trinity to deal effectively with the capital costs that invariably present the largest financial challenges any parish encounters. The ability of the Second Century Fund to achieve these objectives will depend upon the willingness of Trinity parishioners and friends to adopt a practice of longer-term financial stewardship in addition to the stewardship expressed in our annual campaign.
