"Music goes beyond mere words which are too precise.
Music expresses what is in the soul."
-Olivier Messiaen
The choristers, instrumentalists and musical leaders at Trinity Church seek to embody Trinity's mission statement:
Open to All
Open to Love
Open to Serve.
At Trinity Church choirs of adults and children enrich worship, provide outreach to the community and Diocese and participate in special services of music. Handbells and instrumentalists join a diverse, gifted group of singers for two sung services at 9 and 11:15 am. (The Adult Choir sings at one 10am service during the summer months.) The choir sings a wide range of choral repertoire embracing anthems from the rich heritage of the Anglican tradition, including Elizabethan motets, spirituals, anthems written by contemporary composers including Dan Locklair, John Rutter, Bob Chilcott, Philip Moore, and Morten Lauridsen as well as movements drawn from major sacred choral works including Messiah, Elijah, and the Lauridsen Lux Aeterna.
The Daniel Music Fund, begun in 1985 as a memorial to the late Dr. Ralph Daniel, enables Trinity to fund choral scholar positions, which are awarded to Indiana University voice majors during their course of study.
Trinity's Director of Music, Dr. Marilyn Keiser, is assisted by an Indiana University graduate student who serves as the Church Music Intern and by an Organ Scholar, an IU undergraduate organ major. The Music Intern directs an adult Handbell Choir and provides music for the Church School children on a weekly basis.

As music ministers
we seek to be leaders of worship,
we seek to enable the congregation to
connect to the richness of our musical heritage,
and we seek, through word and sound to be a channel
of the beauty, the mystery and the depth of God's love. |
