Feed Entries Sunday School is an integral part to our children's faith formation. It lays a strong foundation to a person's education as a Christian, an education which is a life-long process. The current structure of children's Sunday School includes four classes:
Curriculum -
The current structure of children's Sunday School includes four classrooms: Primary (Pre-K, K), Elementary (Grades 1-3), Intermediate (Grades 4-6), and Youth (Grades 7-12). Classes meet on Sunday mornings after the 9am service and run concurrently with the Adult Forum. As we aim to nurture the spiritual lives of the children, we also desire to provide a safe, clean, and happy Christian environment for these young members of our church family. All teachers and leaders of children and youth have attended a diocesan training session called "Safeguarding God's Children".
This year the Sunday School program will be using the curriculum Seasons of the Spirit. Seasons of the Spirit is an ecumenical, international lectionary-based curriculum that strives to build strong faith communities by integrating the ministries of Christian education, worship, and service. This curriculum invites the entire church community to imaginatively engage scripture through activities that pay particular attention to multiple learning styles, discussion of current events that are connected to each session theme, and the arts, which are at the heart of each Bible study. In addition, Seasons of the Spirit uses art from many cultures for its posters and focuses on providing includsive images, languaage and stories to promote the love of God to all.
We are continuing to develop programming that meets the spiritual needs of today's tweens and teens.
Trinity's Youth Group is a place where Junior High and High School students can come together to connect—not only with other peers, but with Someone greater than themselves. Youth Group meetings take place on Sunday mornings during the Sunday School time. In addition to class time, the group meets during the evening one Sunday of each month. Evening gatherings are informal affairs that include a meal, fellowship fun, and worship. Additionally, look for events in the coming months to include service-learning projects, retreats, ecumenical activities with other area youth groups, and intergenerational faith formation. You need JavaScript enabled to view it The mission of Trinity's Christian Education program is to fulfill the baptismal covenant we make with the children of our church to do all in our power to support them in their life in Christ. As a congregation, we aim to spiritually form our children and youth in mind, soul and being. The foundation for this ministry begins with our youngest parishioners. In the Nursery we have created a safe and loving space for these little ones surrounding them with gentle hands and caring words. We continue nurturing our children and youth by forming them in mind. Through formal Sunday School classes and Children's Chapel we ground them in Scripture and teach them that they are fashioned by a loving God, in God's image. We nurture the soul by providing opportunities for prayerful reflection (such as special family worship services) and involving them in liturgy as acolytes, readers, instrumentalists and choirsters. We help them grow in being by providing hands-on experiences which reveal God's grace and presence in the world (through social gatherings and service-learning projects). To this end, we also desire to be supportive of parent and caregivers in their work to create spiritual homes for their families. We hope you will join us! |
